Chapter 9: The Break-Up

The princess would be angry, devastated, and heartbroken there is no way she will want to take the throne and Eddie will be King and Chris will be his prince.
“Alice. I just realized that I have no pictures of you. Stand right there, and you know what for the fun of it Jesse, why don’t you go in the picture too. To remember our adventure.”
What Alice and Jesse didn’t know was that they were standing at the exact border if Louisville and that Chris was going to send the picture to Marcus.  It was the perfect picture Jesse had his arm around Alice she was smiling and you could see the sign that says welcome to Louisville. They turn around and they could see the whole city it was beautiful. It was filled with colorful lights; there was a big mall in the middle of the city. Then right behind the mall was a castle it wasn’t as pretty as the castle in New Castle there were a few differences.
New Castle has a light blue paint job with a beautiful white stencil design along the bottom of every room. They have chandeliers hanging in the bedroom, kitchen, dining room, living room, and the entrance. Then when you go outside you see a beautiful two-leveled pool the first level is the real pool then it comes down with a waterfall and turns into a Jacuzzi.

The castle in Louisville has a cream color with gold diamond like things on the side of the doors. It has no chandeliers but it does have a one-story pool with a waterfall.
Chris was starting to get tired all he wanted to do was go to his home and lay down in his bed, but he had to complete his mission. He finished the first part; he already sent the picture to Marcus’ cell phone now he had to make sure that she loved him. All he wanted to do was finish his mission and get away from her.
“Alice, I have a question for you…”
“Yes Chris. What is it?”
“Do you love me?”
You could literally here Alice and Jesse just takes in a huge gulp of air.
“You know Chris I think I do… why?”
Phase 2 complete, now all Chris needs to do is break her heart and tell her about her father.
“Oh you do? Wow well this is going to be really hard to say… Alice I think we need to break up.”
Alice wasn’t as hurt that he broke up with her, she was more hurt that nobody likes her, Jesse doesn’t like her and now Chris doesn’t either.
“Jesse deals off.”
“No, Chris I did what you said you can’t do this. You promised.”
“Jesse it’s the 21st century, everyone lies. Tiger Woods lies, Lindsay Lohan lies, now I lie.”
Alice was so confused.
“What are you guys talking about?”
She didn’t know whom to look at Chris they guy who just dumped her or Jesse the guy who never liked her, the one she still had feelings for.
“Look Alice there is something you don’t know about Chris. He lied to you. He never liked you. You have to trust me. We’re in Louisville, the place where your Dad’s brother lives, they are archenemies, I don’t know why but they are. Eddie - you dad’s brother - asked Chris - his servant – to track you down, bring you hear tell Marcus that I brought you here, so your Dad would hate me, have you fall in love with him, then break up with you resulting in your heart breaking. You do believe me right Alice?”
“Don’t listen to him Alice he’s lying all he wants to do is save his job.”
Alice looked like she was going to faint there was just so many things going on in her head. She was angry that Chris didn’t take her to the Lake, she was happy that Jesse told her what was going on, she was hurt that Chris just used her, and relieved that she knew what was going on now.
“Wait… what job?”
“My job at the castle.”
Jesse turned fully around not even facing Chris. If it weren’t for the fact that he was really tired, he would have punched Chris in the face again. He deserved much worse. He lied to Jesse, he made Jesse lie to Alice.

Chapter 8: Love Triangle

Alice could feel her heart breaking she had thought that he actually liked her that there really was a chance that he would actually like her, but for some reason she saw pain in Jesses eyes she saw the same pain that she was feeling but his had a hint of anger. Jesse could feel his whole body literally shut down. He fell like he was going to collapse. It was easier to say what he said because it was for her sake, but it was 10 times harder to hear that she didn’t like him, he had always figured but after yesterday he really thought he had a chance. But, guys like Chris always get the girls, in all the movies, books, and now in life. They continued their walk Chris with his arm around Alice and Chris in the front not wanting to see them. They walked all the way to Long bourn, which was only a few miles till The Lake, until Jesse didn’t know where to turn so Chris took-over. They started heading east even though The Lake was to the West. Of course, Alice and Jesse didn’t know that but Chris did and now his plan was working perfectly.
“Um… Chris how far are we going? I don’t remember my mom describing it to be so far from the castle. She said that we would be able to see Lullaby Island the whole time and I haven’t seen Lullaby Island in a few hours.”
“Don’t worry you’re pretty little head Alice I know a short-cut, and what’s Lullaby Island”
Chris hated the fact that he had to keep up the pretenses that he actually had some kind of feelings for her.
“It’s the place where her mom would base all of her bedtimes stories. It was her mom’s favorite place. Alice used to tell me the stories when we were little she would repeat them to me they were pretty entertaining. Oh like the one were you were fighting the dragon and you saved the entire village from the giant robot. ”
Alice just looked at Jesse. She couldn’t believe that he had remembered the stories; she could barely remember most of them.
“Yeah, that’s right but know my bedtime stories are the ones I read from The Great Adventures of Lisa the Great. She’s my favorite author ever, Kat Summerton. She was going to go to the castle Daddy was talking to her agent then she said she couldn’t come all of a sudden. I was really sad but there was nothing I could do.”
Chris kissed her on the cheek hoping it would make her shut up, he hated when she would talk. God? When is this misery going to end? He thought. Then all of a sudden Jesse figured it out he knew why the author wouldn’t come to the castle, he knew why the author didn’t go, and he knew why she loved her stories so much. It all made sense but he couldn’t tell Alice, what if he was wrong? She would hate him.  And he defiantly wanted Chris to have nothing to do with it. So he would go to The Lake with her then after he would go on his own to God Knows Where and he would make Alice happy, like he always wanted to. It was starting to get dark and they should have been at The Lake already it doesn’t take 2 whole days to get there. Jesse was starting to get suspicious the road they were on it looked strangely familiar. They finally got to Louisville, where Chris’ boss King Eddie lives. He had finally completed the first part of his mission: Bring the Princess to the castle to piss off Marcus, then have her fall in love with you, then break up with her resulting in her heart breaking, then after her hearts broken tell her about her father not trusting her. It was the perfect plan.

Chapter 7: The Break Up

“You’re not going to tell you are you? It’s just I don’t want her to have a reason to hate her father anymore.”
“Oh I won’t tell her… for that reason. I want her to know what a poor excuse for a man you are. Of course there’s away for you to win.”
“Ok… what is it?”
“You tell Alice you don’t like her. You tell her that she should be with me. Tell her that you never liked her and you never will, and I won’t tell her anything. Go!”
Jesse walked up to the sleeping Alice, shook her awake and looked at the beautiful face with her big happy smile and big beautiful brown eyes. He knew what he was about to say would kill him but he had to save what little of happiness she has with her father.
“Alice, good morning. I have to tell you something and it is really hard for me to say…”
“Then don’t say it.”
“I have to… it’s for you… okay look Alice I want you to know I don’t like you in the way that I think you think. I’ve never… liked you like that.  I’m so sorry. You belong with a guy like Chris, well not a guy like Chris, Chris.”
Jesse could see the way that this hurt Alice but he knew that it was the only way that he could save the small relationship that she has with her father. It had to be the hardest thing he ever had to say.
“Um… okay I mean I never like you that way either. No offence. So there’s no reason for you to be sorry and I’m glad you approve because I liked Chris too, I’ve always liked Chris.”

Chapter 6: Secret Exposed.

“When did you learn to fight?”
“A few years ago I took a class. That’s what I do on Fridays now I teach the class.”
“Well, I guess I’ll have to go visit you soon.”
Alice walked over gave him a big hug and whispered in his ear “I’m glad you won.” He grabbed her hand and they continued walking by the time they got to some fields it was already nighttime. They pulled out the blankets they had packed and found a place in the shade to sleep. It could’ve been a perfect night if it wasn’t so cold. The stars were shining bright in the sky and it was completely and absolutely silent. Jesse and Alice spent the night looking at the stars and looking at some pictures that Jesse had painted. It was about 11 o’clock when Alice started to get really tired. The sat against a tree and Jesse started to hum the song Alice’s mom would sing her when she was baby “Mariposa Traicinero.” In the matter of seconds it became very difficult for Alice to keep her eyes open. Jesse gave her his jacket because hers was all wet from jumping in the lake. He put his arm around her to warm her up, she put her head on his shoulder and her head fit perfectly there, it was as if it was meant to be. She fell asleep a few seconds later and once Jesse finished the song he kissed her forehead and whispered to her “Good-night Alice,” and began to fall asleep until he heard, “Good-night Jesse, I love you.” Thinking she was sleep talking and that she meant as a brother, he whispered back “I love you too, I always have.” And they fell asleep in each other’s arms. It was the perfect night. Until they woke up, they found Chris standing over Jesse.
“Well what do you know it’s the help.”
“What’s going on?”  Alice woke up to see Jesse staring at her, he smiled said good morning, excused himself and pulled Chris to the other tree about a few feet away.
“How did you know that? Who told you?”
“How did I know? I went to talk to the King I told him everything, how you convinced Alice to leave the sanctuary of the castle and run away with you, how you’re taking her to Louisville. You know Louisville right where King Marcus’ brother lives, the brother that he hates. He was so upset he said something along the lines of ‘I knew I shouldn’t have hired him as a security guard, all he did was sink his claws into my beloved daughter, he’s fired.’ So… you’re the help, that’s why you’re able to see Alice everyday while everyone else can’t, because you’re her bodyguard. Well, you’re not a good one; I think I should be the one to tell you; she escaped the castle with some loser. Oh, wait you’re the loser. What a coincidence.”

Chapter 5: Competition

They went outside to find a motorcycle made for 2 parked right outside the door.
“Hey sorry dude. I can only fit two people on this bike. But look over there they’re selling motorcycle. You can just ride behind us.” Chris says with a sly smile on his face.
“Or of course you can lead the way and Alice and I can go on the rental.”
“I don’t know how safe that would be, I mean do you even know how to ride a motorcycle. We don’t want anything to happen to the princess.”
“As a matter of fact I would ride my motorcycle everyday to the castle to see Alice since I was 10. So, yes you can say I know how to ride a motorcycle.”
At this point Jesse and Chris were practically chest-to-chest. Surprisingly Jesse was pretty much the same height as Chris, even thought Chris was 18 and Jesse was 15.
“Why don’t we have Alice decide who she goes with?” Chris says knowing that Alice would choose him, considering the fact that she can barely remember Jesse’s name.
“Um… I think… I’m going to go with Jesse.” Alice says really weighing her options.
Jesse and Alice drove right behind Chris, they were laughing and making jokes the whole ride. Alice was happy in Jesse’s arms she felt safe, she felt comfortable. Chris notices that Alice actually likes Jesse too so he grabs a piece of broken glass from his side mirror. Jesse sees it and tries to swerve around it, but he did it to fast and the motorcycle swerves to the side and falls, he pushes himself in front of Alice and his face scrapes along the ground finally they stop moving and the motorcycle falls on top of him.
“Alice, are you okay?”
“Yeah. I’m fine. What was that?”
“A piece of glass, from a mirror. Hey Chris why is it that this piece fits into your mirror from your bike?”
“Um…. I guess it must have fell.”
“Or… you broke it off and threw it on the floor so it would seem like I didn’t know how to drive a motorcycle. Admit it.”
All of a sudden Chris jumps off his bike and tackles Jesse to the ground. He pins him to the floor and punches him in the face. Jesse rolls over on top of Chris punches him in the gut then the nose resulting in it breaking. Punches flying everywhere then all of a sudden Jesse noticed that Alice was in complete shock, she even looked surprised. Chris takes advantage of Jesse being distracted and kicks him off of him.
“You know what you can have her for now but trust me, I’m going to win her. Just because you have her right now doesn’t mean that the King will ever let you date her. So go ahead have her while you can but I’ll be the ultimate winner. I always am.”
Even though Chris surrendered Jesse didn’t care he walked right up to him and gave him one last strong punch to the face. Jesse turns to Alice to see her wide eyed her jaw pretty much falling to the ground. She blinks a few times and finally manages to speak.

Chapter 4: Chris.

Alice turns around and runs head first into Chris. Chris was her old tutor when she was about 10 she had a MAJOR crush. He was the only guy other than Jesse that she had ever seen and had a crush on. The other guys she met were ugly, old, or mean.
“Alice? Is that you?”
What Alice didn’t know was that Chris had like her too when she was 10 he was 13. He liked the way that she was so down to earth. She always made him smile whenever he came to tutor her.
“Chris? Hey! Yeah, it’s me Alice. Wow, it’s been so long since I last saw you.”
“Yeah, what has it been 4 years?”
“Close, 3. Wow. How have you been? What are you doing here?”
Alice’s Dad found out that she had a crush on him when she was 12 so he fired him; he did not want his daughter to fall in love with someone that he didn’t approve of, and he defiantly did not approve of Chris at least as a King. He was a conniving and violent person; and just the way he looked at her sometimes would creed him out.
“I’ve been good. I just came here to give you a ride to wherever you need to go. What are you doing here?”
The way he said it made her smile for some reason his European accent, gorgeous blue-green eyes, stunning smile, and obvious good looks still had an effect on her.
“Um… I’m actually going to The Lake with my friend um….”
“Jesse! Hi, my names’ Jesse. I’m the one that’s been taking her places. So no thank you we don’t need your car.”
Alice’s head just snapped right to Jesse, it was the first time her eyes had moved from Chris’ face since she had first seen him again.
“If you would excuse us a minute Chris that would be great… WHAT ARE YOU THINKING!? He has a car, he’s offering to give us a ride to The Lake.”
“Alice do you hear yourself? You haven’t seen this guy since you were 12 that is 3 whole years, he could be a serial killer for all you know. You don’t know the guy anymore. Plus this whole adventure was suppose to be just you and me if you bring your boyfriend along I’m going to be stuck a third wheel.”
“Oh, Jesse you won’t… Wait, did you just say boyfriend does that mean you think he likes me?”
Chris walks over to them, hearing their whole conversation, by the way she got excited when Jesse said “boyfriend” he knew she liked him too. Of course he knew that, that Jesse guy liked her too, so that meant a challenge for him. And there is nothing that excited Chris more then a challenge.
“I don’t mean to be rude but we should be going if you want me to get you there before sundown.”
“Yeah, no problem. You’re right we should be going. Come on Jacob.”
“Jesse. Remember Alice, my names Jesse.”
“Yeah sorry. I know that, I was just distracted.”

Chapter 3: Where are they going?

“You know I don’t understand why you wanted to leave New Castle it’s beautiful. I mean you live in a castle with chandeliers everywhere. The walls are pretty much pure gold. You have thousands of butlers that do everything for you. You don’t have to deal with bratty kids in your classes. Why wouldn’t you want to live there?”
“What’s the point of living in a castle if you’re only a prisoner inside of it? I can’t go anywhere. I can’t see anyone. I’m stuck doing the same thing every single day. On top of all that I’m going to be prom queen, valedictorian, and the class clown, all because I’m home schooled.”
“Hey you don’t know I might beat you out for valedictorian and prom queen. I mean I am prettier than you.” Jesse says while playing with his hair.
“Ha-ha… very funny Jesse.”
“Okay, well I’m all packed, left a note for my parents. So, I’m all ready”
“Well then I guess we’ll go.”
Jesse kissed his baby brother good-bye and ran out the door. Jesse and Alice walked for about an hour until it started to get very hot. They stopped at a rest stop for a soda. It was getting to hot for Alice to bear. So she let down her hair and went into the air-conditioned rest stop. It was the first time since she was 7 that she had her hair down in front of Jesse. In the castle they always made her have it in a bun so she would look elegant. Jesse turned around and saw her with her hair down and was automatically amazed. The way her long brown hair blew in the wind made him smiled. He had liked Alice since he was about 5 or 6 but for some reason he never had the courage to tell her that he liked her.
He figured that the beautiful princess Alice would never liked him so he never bothered telling her. So one day when he was about 12 his next-door neighbor Lisa told him that she liked him. He asked her out 1-week later completely hurting Alice. Of course, he never really liked her but he figured why dwell on a girl that would never like him. She had princes’ from different countries crushing on her, given the fact that she had never met them, why wouldn’t she choose them. They were perfect for her in every way.
Alice turned around to see Jesse staring at her.
“So um… I think that we should find a place to stay at because I don’t think we’re going to make it to the Lake by sun down.”
“The Lake? We’re going to the Lake? I thought I got to chose where we go.”
“Yeah, I was thinking since that was my moms favorite place to be and mine you wouldn’t mine going there. Please.”
She pulled out her secret weapon, the puppy dogface. Jesse knew inside of him that this had something to do with her mom, for some reason it always did but he couldn’t bear to hurt her so he said yes. He could see Alice’s face just light up. She even started to do a little happy dance.
“Alice, why are you so determined to meet your mother, if she left you? Most people would be angry and not want to meet her. Plus, you have a father that loves you.”
He didn’t know why he was about to say this; he knew this was a sticky subject for her.
“The only reason my dad loves me so much is because I am the only thing he has left of my mom.”
Alice never understood why he didn’t get it. Even though her mother left her of course she loved her, she was her mother and nothing would ever change that.
“Fine, nothing I say will ever change your mind, so let’s keep walking.”

Chapter 2: The Escape

Their plan went absolutely perfectly they were able to get out without anyone noticing, Alice and Jesse ran down the hill. That ran into Jesse’s house, and into his room.
“So, this is what your room looks like.” Alice says looking around.
“Oh, yeah I forgot you have never been in my room.” He said, packing up his painting tools.
“Is this a picture of us? I remember this day. It was my 9th birthday, you had thrown cake at me and my dad chased you around the backyard yelling at you to apologize to me.” Alice says staring at the picture.
“Oh yeah, I forgot I had that. Um… yeah I haven’t cleaned my room in awhile I keep… forgetting. It’s not because I am messy or anything.” Jesse said looking around the room, uncomfortable because Alice is neat and tidy.
“You seem to be forgetting a lot of things lately. You forgot that I was never in your room; you forgot you had that picture, you forgot your brother’s birthday last month, and you forgot to clean your room. What’s going on with you?”
“Nothing, I’ve just been distracted I mean my mom has the new baby now so she’s pretty much forgotten about me so I have to always make my own food and it’s just a lot of responsibility right now.”
Jesse says growing more and more irritated by the breath. Alice realized that this was the perfect moment to tell him how she felt, she realized, well she hoped that it would make him feel better.
“So Jesse do you remember on my 9th birthday when I told you that I liked you…”
“Yes?”
He turned completely around to look at her. Wait… is she going to say what I am hoping she’s going to say? Get hold of yourself Jesse, remember She’s a princess, she’s adventurous why would she like someone boring like me he thought. She looked right into his big brown eyes and lost her courage. Why would he like me? I am boring and he’s just so cute she thought.
“Well… the only reason I said it was so you would stop chasing me. I never meant it.”
“Oh um…. Okay?”
“It was just because I was thinking about that day right now and I remembered I told you that.”
I can’t believe I chickened out, but I mean what if he doesn’t like me back and I mean he probably doesn’t then I will just be making a fool of myself. She thought. Alice and Jesse ran out of their house and ran all the way to The Lake, Alice’s favorite place. It was a forest in the middle of New Castle it was surrounded by beautiful trees and in the middle of all those trees is a lake a beautiful clear blue lake that Katherine used to love to go swimming in.

Chapter 1: The Plan

Our story begins, and it is centering on their 15-year-old daughter, Alice Leoni. Let us just say that the heir to the throne is not the happiest person in the world, especially since she is stuck in the castle. While things come into the castle, such as her best friend / long time crush Jesse, she cannot go out. Her dad keeps her practically locked in the castle. Until one day she finally finds a way out.
It was another plain and boring day for Alice, she went to school, played with Jesse, and ate lunch with Jesse.  Jesse was reading Alice’s book Rome and Juliet when all of a sudden Alice slams her Math book sighs and jumps on her bed. Jesse reluctantly asks her,
“Okay Alice what’s wrong, you love Math. Is this about your “B” again, because I have told you so many times you got that wrong 5 times 86 is 430 not 445.” Alice rolls her eyes sits on her bed and looks at him,
”Okay a) it is not about Math b) I told you the problem said 89 not 86 c) you make me sound like a nerd and d) I do not love Math I am just good at it.”
“Okay well if this is not about math,” he replied, completely confused on what this is about.
“What is this about?”
Alice gets up from her bed, walks to her door, closes it and sits back down.
“It is about the castle, I was thinking last night that I am tired of being stuck here, and last night while my dad was sleeping I snuck out of my room,”
“Alice! What? How could you do that? You could have gotten caught.”
Jesse was very glad that she had closed that door, but he knew that the look on her face meant that she wanted to do something that possibly could get her grounded for the rest of her life.
“Well, anyways as I was saying before you rudely interrupted me, we are going to sneak out through the basement, and luckily we are suppose to be there in 15 minutes to practice sword fighting so what I will do is instead of packing the swords in my bag, I will pack my clothes then we will sneak out of the window, go to your house and get your stuff.”
Jesse’s mouth was wide open he was completely shocked that she really was going to leave. She took his silence as a yes, and started to pack her stuff.
“Okay, but if I go we get to go to the places I want to go to.”

Prologue

In all stories there must be past and in this story it may seem that the past of these two people hold the key to the future. Katherine met the love of her life, Marcus Leoni. They were perfect for each other; they both loved to laugh, run around, and be outdoors. They had a spot that they would always go to. It was called The Lake, it is where Marcus and Katherine first met, it is where he proposed to her, and it is where they got married. Two months after they got married, Marcus’ dad, King Harry died. Marcus had to step up, move to the castle, and become king. Katherine accepted the life she had to get used to for their child, but four months after their daughter, Alice was born she left. She moved to her old house, in the hopes to be free.
